Instructors: Extending deadlines

Modified on Wed, 3 Dec at 11:31 AM

Learnvia gives you flexibility when managing assignment deadlines. Whether you need to adjust a due date for the entire class or accommodate an individual student, here’s how to handle deadline extensions.

Extending a Deadline for the Entire Class

You can update due dates for any assignment at the class level, including deadlines that have already passed.

Steps

  1. Open your Learnvia Kit and go to the Plan tab.
  2. Locate the assignment with the deadline you want to change.
  3. Edit the date and/or time to extend it.

What happens when you extend a past deadline?

  • Learnvia will automatically recalculate totals.
  • If students completed additional work after the old deadline but before the new one, those points will now be included.

Extending a Deadline for an Individual Student

You may occasionally need to grant extra time to a single student for accommodations, illness, or other circumstances. At this time, Learnvia does not support individual deadline extensions directly in the kit. This feature is in development. Until individual extensions are available, you can adjust grades manually.

Steps

  1. Create an extra credit column in your LMS or gradebook.
  2. To see how many points the student completed regardless of due date, go to the Roster tab in the Learnvia kit. Under the Raw Points (Completion %) column group, review the total number of points the student earned.
  3. Award the student any additional points they earned after the deadline.

Note: Learnvia defines completion based on correct answers, not attempts. This ensures you’re basing any manual adjustments on the same criteria used to calculate regular grades.
