What your instructor can see about your AI Tutor use
Who this is for: students, and instructors who want to know what is available to them.
Students often ask whether an instructor can see the questions they ask the Tutor. The short answer is that your instructor can read the conversations from their class, but your name is not attached to them.
Your instructor sees Tutor conversations labeled Student A, Student B, and so on. They do not see your name or email address next to a conversation.
What instructors can see
- The Tutor conversations from students in their class, with each student shown under an anonymous label rather than a name.
- All conversations from class members, not a sample. Instructors can narrow them to a single chapter or module.
- AI-generated summaries of what the class has been asking the Tutor about.
- Tutor usage statistics, in the Chapter insight view alongside other class rollups.
What instructors do not see
Conversations are not linked to your name or email address, so an instructor cannot look up "what did this particular student ask". The labels are assigned by the system, not chosen by the instructor.
One thing worth knowing: your messages are shown exactly as you wrote them. If you type your name or something else identifying into the Tutor, that text appears in the conversation your instructor reads. Ask the Tutor anything you like about the math, and simply avoid putting personal details into the chat.
Why instructors have this
It is there so your instructor can spot what the class is struggling with and cover it in class. It is designed around the class as a whole rather than around tracking any one student.
