Intro

Welcome to Calculus! Your class is trialing new learning tools from Learnvia, a new non-profit publisher dedicated to helping students succeed. You’ll be trying out several modules from the Learnvia Calculus 1 Kit. Your feedback will directly result in improvements to the tools to improve the experience for current and future students.

Setup

  1. Click on your instructor-provided enrollment link on Learnvia's Canvas (be sure to use the same university email used in your school's system). If needed, detailed instructions here

  2. Click the “Learnvia Calculus 1 Kit” button.

  3. Open a module, start learning. Completion is auto-recorded and shown to you and your instructor.

Learning with Learnvia

For your trial, you’ll have access to a few modules, each devoted to a calculus topic (like “Derivatives and the tangent problem.” Each module includes 3-6 lesson activity and ends with a homework activity:

  • Lesson Activities (15 minutes each) include brief text, a short video, and 10-15 questions, within the text and videos, all with feedback.  You’ll receive points for correctly completing Lesson Activity questions. You'll have unlimited attempts, and can get hints without penalty

  • Homework Activity (20 minutes) has 10-15 questions that are autograded upon submission. Points are awarded for each correctly completed question. You’ll get unlimited attempts; if you can’t finish a question, you can see a solution without penalty – we’ll then generate a new question for you to try again.

  • Self-quiz Activity (20 minutes) has 10-15 questions that are autograded upon completion. Points are awarded for attempting a question. You’ll get unlimited attempts. Solutions are visible after completion. New questions will be generated for each attempt.

Completion is always recorded, but points only count before due dates.

To help us improve these materials for future students, we need your feedback! Please make extensive use of the Feedback button throughout every module so that we can improve.  Our team actively monitors feedback and often uses it to make updates in days or even hours.

The Learnvia AI Tutor is always available on the right side of the screen, ready to answer questions.  We hope you’ll use it frequently – it’s there to help! Discussion forums are also there, for chats with your classmates, questions for your instructor or comments on specific lessons.
